This is a great book from wife's childhood. She hopes to read it to her own grandchildren one day. I was read this book as a kid and liked it. It's a great little book. It's likely to not be deemed worthy in this world today due to too much political correctness....like "How dare they write a book about a girl that is a nurse....MAKE HER A DOCTOR." Nurses are great...men or women!

As a child back in the 1950s, I had a huge collection of Little Golden Books, and this was one of my favorites. So when I discovered it on Amazon, I had to have a copy. I was sort of hoping it would still come with the little Band-aids, so was a little disappointed to find that this current edition doesn't have them. (At least, mine doesn't.) The book definitely reinforces traditional male/female stereotypes, so I'm not sure how it would go down with today's little girls and their mothers. Still, a lovely reminder of the "good old days" and some of Corinne Malvern's sweetest artwork.

Wonderful books, but no longer come with the official bandage in front. Whatever happened to Doctor Tommy?

Same as the original 1950's edition but now I find myself explaining that Nancy chose freely to become a Nurse rather than going to Medical School, whereas back in the 1950's my mother explained that girls become Nurses and boys become doctors because most every Medical School at that time didn't accept girls.

So my grandmothers name is Nancy. SHe was a nurse in the US Navy for 20 years. I gave her this book for her 89th birthday and she absolutely loved it! It is a very cute book and sooooo well made!

This was my favorite book as a child..what I like the most is that the words and illustrations have not changed. What I liked least is that mine came with a couple bandaids in the cover and the books today don’t have them!

A sweet book about a little girl pretending to be nurse. I read my mom's copy of this when I was a child and I'm glad it is still in print for my children.

My daughter absolutely adores this book and practices doctor and nurse with all her dollies and her little sister. Definitely a keepsake!

good

Who is George Rekela anyway? Where did he fall out of the sky from? The reason I ask both of these questions is this book was a total surprise. Finally...finally...a team history that speaks the way a intelligent frustrated fan would. The research is still tremendous as any sports history book, but Rekela is able to get to the heart of every issue of really why the NHL North Stars and the WHA Saints, despite being in the so-called "State Of Hockey," moved and folded respectively. His focus on North Stars fan experiences from the early quiet (many Minnesotans being of staid Scandinavian descent) crowds to the drunk rowdies of the 1981 Stanley Cup run was very enlightening. His takedowns of pretty much every owner the North Stars had gives us all great insight into why the team never really got over the hump. The story on the machinations of the notorious Detroit Red Wings' owner James Norris and Chicago Black Hawks' owner Arthur Wirtz in pitting Minnesota's arena vs. their jointly owned St. Louis Arena to fix expansion to line their own pockets is jawdropping. This is why I love Rekela, he doesn't love the NHL and realizes hockey is one thing and the NHL is completely another. If I had the money I'd fund Rekela to write hockey histories full-time. Don't be fooled by this book having just 126 pages as not a single word really is wasted. The guy is THAT good.

Perfect!
