The second project, a Butterfly, introduces multiple colour work. The third project brings in discussion of overlays, shims (to add a 3-D effect), lamination and calVing. By the beginning of the fourth project, most of the important methods have been described and the space devoted to each project becomes smaller, consisting of list of materials and some quick tips to help ensure the work is completed satisfactorily. The projects cover a wide range from a horse's head, a train shaped photo frame and a lighthouse, to a small girl wearing boots, a lily cross and a racoon. I cabinet work and have tried many different disciplines furniture, house doors, intricate box making and clocks. I am currently working with intarsia projects. Intarsia is really sculpting wood. I have little artistic talents but I have made some projects that many friends and family find very attractive after purchasing this book. If you like working with wood, have lots of patience and are looking for new areas to explore in working with wood try intarsia.

This book lays out directions very well. I am a wood working hobbiest. I use a scroll saw mostly, but have had an interest in intarsia for a long time. Always thought would be hard to learn. So glad I got this beginners edition. Clear, precise instructions. I have made the first pattern, a goldfish. Turned out so well, was able to give it away for a birthday present, she loved it! Ready to try more!

Haven't started any projects yet but book seems detailed and templates are very nice...no junk here. I read the quick Bio of the author...and she is very capable of writing on the subject matter...extensive background in Intarsia and art in general....but even with that said...some people are great at a skill but terrible at teaching it...she appears great at both.

Having just recently started creating intarsia projects I was interested in a book which provided the very basic of this type of work. I was not disappointed. This book is excellent at presenting the subject in a clear and easily followed format. As you work through the levels in the book you cant help but pick up more details and skills. Only criticism and the reason for dropping one star relates to the fact you have to photocopy the plans and in some cases enlarge them. A hard bound book makes this very difficult. I have split the spine and inserted everything in a folder. Not a big deal but could have been addressed with a spiral bound format or the inclusion of plans separately.

I have found this book to be quite helpful in learning the Intarsia woodworking skills. Step by step easy to understand instructions with photos.

Excellent beginner's book to learn the correct way. It is very helpful and the patterns contained are excellente. Highly recommended.

This book is worth every penny for anyone with an interest in intarsia. Great projects although some of the instructions are a little confusing, but nothing that can't be figured out with a bit of study. Once you get past the first chapter the mystery is pretty much gone and most of the projects can be worked (or worked around) to a satisfactory conclusion.

I'm a begginer and these patterns are perfect for a challenge. Some are harder than others but great fun. The only down side is you have to have some of them enlarged at a office store unless you have a copy machine. I love the designs!

About the Author

Pedro Albizu Campos our last great bastion of independence and sovereignty. A harvard valedictorian and leader of the independece party. The US government imprisoned, tortured, and killed him in order to send a clear message to other people with similar ideologies. He was treated like a terrorist (torture and all) in US soil. A superfluous treatment to a great figure. If needed for context he can be regarded as a MLK in his way of leading people.In this pamphlet he argues and outlines a roadmap to free Puerto Rico from its territory status and able to participate in the trade market. This was back in the 1800s when Puerto Rico had good land and ability to build a market using the island resources. In present times, the island is a paved parking lot for the four or five corporations that Pedro was looking to free the island from.

As someone else stated in their review, I also purchased this "pamphlet" of google paragraphs thinking it was an actual book! I am beyond disappointed with this and inserting a few paragraphs and pages of zeroxed photos into a glossy colored cardboard cut out does not a book make...The wikipedia page on Pedro Albizu Campos alone will give you so much more information and links to further information than this "pamphlet"_ zero stars for this

Pedro Albizo Campos was a renegade in all sense of the word, with his relentless fight for Puerto Rican independence. Although heâ€™s been dead for well over half a century, this is a man who (in my humble opinion,) relates to, on some level, the mentality that every Puerto Rican shares to this day. While reading this book, I found it impossible not to see the correlation of his fears/beliefs of the future, and how history has played itself out on the island. Opportunities were missed throughout the years, and injustices were plenty. And now in 2018, even with the backing of the most powerful nation the world has ever seen, the island is completely broken, and generations of Puerto Ricanâ€™s have been forced to flee because of the lack of importance from the colonizers, and lack of organization/urgency to change from the colonists. Looks like what we have here is business as usual for â€œLa isla del Encanto.â€

After reading this short but very lucid, straight-forward book on the thoughts and ideas and history as written by Don Pedro Albizo Campos was a true eye opening experience.It is still as true then as it is today- colonialism is still a fact for the islanders. But real independence is still hard to accept as a possibility since our mutual economies are so tied together.We must be brave enough and determined enough to stand strongly together and press for a complete separation with the economic ties holding firmly and wisely for the betterment of both sovereign nations.This book is a small revelation and I recommend it to be read by anyone who believe in freedom of sovereignty by one nation to another possible nation.

Needs more substance as to the benefits of independence, but makes clear the facts of US exploitation. Recommend " the war against all puerto ricans" for a more detailed story concerning the US exploitation of Puerto Rico, and the maltreatment of its people.

Imagine copying excerpts from websites quoting Albizu Campos or referencing him, and pasting it into Word, then selling it with the cover art being an image you found on Google Images. That's this "book".Taking the money I spent on this book and using it as toilet paper would give what I did with my money more value than buying this book.

I thought this was going to be a lot bigger than it was... it's about 10 pages long and talks about Campos. It's more of a pamphlet than a book... a pamphlet I spent about $6 on that I probably could have learned on the internet. If you're like me and was hoping it was something like a quick autobiography or something, it's not.
