I went to Lima, Cusco, Ollantaytambo and of course Machu Picchu. The hours and prices were accurate. The advice was almost all dead-on, except for the one that stated the Qorichanka ruins in Cusco was the one place we needed to visit in that city. It was a derelict museum that had seen better days. The section on Machu Picchu was invaluable; however, I downloaded a better map online. FYI - you get no pamphlets or maps of any kind with your entrance ticket. Their advice about Aguas Calientes should also be taken to heart - as in it's just an expensive ripoff, with no redeeming feature, except if one is going to Machu Picchu very early in the morning.

Helpful book. While there are plenty of resources online for travel, I found that I was tired of looking at a screen. Having a book was extremely helpful and I really enjoyed the layout and organization of this book. I particularly enjoy the listing of restaurants, as I know I will enjoy having a few chosen before my trip. Would have a liked a bit more covering the Inca Trail for tips and tricks (for packing especially), but that pertains to me specifically and my trip. I really appreciated the comments for crime concerns since I am a first time traveler to South America.

Not bad. Supposedly updated in 2016 but does not include the Plaza Real shopping mall in San Isidro which had been open for 3 or more years before the update. The mall is as nice as any in the U.S. It also includes several good restaurants. This makes you wonder what else is out-of -date in the book. I also couldn't find tour companies for condor watching--only trekking for several days in Colca canyon. They may be in the book but a casual look didn't reveal the condor tours. On the other hand there is a lot of very good info on what to see and do in Lima and around Peru.

This is not a very good book. Even though trip advisor and a thousand other websites exist I still buy these books every time I travel because they add structure to the chaos of understanding where to go and what to do. I love using the walking tours of the cities I visit. This book was sorely lacking on those. They left out spots that they had flagged as must see sights that were right along the path and the Lima tour ended us in the middle of chaos, difficult to get a taxi or uber due to constantly gridlocked traffic. It was not all bad, there were good restaurant recommendations and we did use it as a reference throughout the trip. Just overall disappointed.

Useful guide to help navigate Peru while I was there for 17 days. Highly recommend Alain Machaca Cruz as a guide from the book, he was fantastic!

Lonely Planet tends to be my default go-to travel guide. This one was a useful guide for Peru, though I did have friends in Peru that helped me get survive the Spanish. The guide was fun for looking up places to eat. Though gotta admit that the kindle version was difficult to navigate.

I am traveling to Peru in September. This book has been very helpful with my planning so far. The maps, cultural information and guide information are very descriptive and very helpful. This is my fourth Lonely Planet book and I have not been disappointed yet.

Extremely helpful guide during my recent trip. There were a few suggestions that were a bit off but for the most part it was great with restaurant recommendations, activities, and highlights. I had it with me everywhere I went!
