The book has lots of different Arts and Crafts furniture but is somewhat short on details. There is enough info to build the pieces but you'll have to do a fair bit of examining the drawings to get all the details right. On a different level it gives you a good idea of how these pieces were constructed so you can design your own projects using the construction methods of a bygone era. For the most part the book takes into account wood movement that the originals didn't always compensate for.

An excellent source of craftsman furniture drawings, as well as of ideas for extrapolations. Dimensions are occasionally hard to locate, but are all present. In a few instances, dimensions are incorrect but those instances are easily identified and the correct dimensions discernable.

Its a decent book but you need to know what your doing for everything this would go well with a stack of other books that tell you how to do the stuff in this book

Great book on Craftsman period furniture. I will use this a lot in the future. Great author.

Nice pictures, but as "shop drawings" - not so great. If you want to use this book as a guide to actually build furniture, it is lacking a lot of important information and measurements. Very disappointed.

Drawings slightly disappointing

I used this, along with Making Authentic Craftsman Furniture: Instructions and Plans for 62 Projects (Dover Woodworking), to make a little table that was described in each book. This book, by Robert Lang, is more useful and practical. The other perhaps more interesting, to work from period drawings and such.These aren't plans. You still need to know how to build and make choices that will lead you towards the end result. Some details around drawer construction/hanging seem to have been left out, but there are at least a billion web pages devoted to this topic and I can imagine why the author left things vague.

My son loves this book

This isn't our first my 1st Board Book and it definitely won't be our last. The books are sturdy and can withstand my enthusiastically and unintentionally rough two year old as he throws them around and bends them every which way. The pictures are bright and engaging so it gets my toddler asking questions about new things and excitedly pointing out the things that he knows/recognizes. Every letter has a handful of different pictures to talk about and we can discuss the letter sounds and what they look like.

My 1 yr old son and I really enjoy spending quality potty time reading this book. Yes, this is one of the things I use with him when I want him to concentrate and sit still on the potty and it works. He's learning his abc's and potty training at the same time :DHe loves to point at the different images and I name it for him. The whole book is clear and concise so it makes teaching the letters and sound of the alphabet easy.

My toddler (23 months) currently loves books with lots of photos of objects and animals for him to learn the words for, so I thought he'd love this book since it has more than one picture for each letter of the alphabet. However, this book almost has too many pictures and is overwhelming for some kids -- the letter B has 14 pictures on a two-page spread! My son usually just looks at the first few pages, points out the objects he recognizes and says the word, then loses interest long before we reach the end. I think this book would be better if there were only 2-3 pictures per letter. (Some less common letters, like Q and Z, do only have 2-3 pictures.)

BUY IT. Trust me. I have a library of over 200 children's books for my son, age 2. I was stunned at what an excellent item this is when we received it! He is only two but he knows his letters, so I thought the ABC board book would be a good fit for him. I had no idea! It was neat that he'd learned his letters already, but now I can ask him, "James, what letter does "airplane" start with?" and get the right answer. He knows DOZENS of these, thanks to this book!We love a great read and that is how we enjoy one another's company much of the day. This isn't a "Mommy, read it!" book. It's an "I'll let you sit on my lap and I'll hold the book so you can build your brain while I rest book." I love a book that I DON'T have to read just as much as one I do have to read. :) My son sits calmly on my lap, picking through the pages and pointing to realistic pictures of items, while telling me what each one is called. It's excellent for vocabulary building. It helps him build confidence in his ability to "read." And it has shown him that letters(shown on the pages for the words shown that begin with them,) MEAN something.This is one of those books that I think everyone should have. It will be part of my future baby gifts from here on out. (I like to give books because no one else does and they are the single best building block to education that I can provide to the child, as someone outside the home. Plus, they last forever compared to baby clothes!)I really encourage you to add this item to your home library. Your child will benefit from it immensely and you will both enjoy "reading" it. ;)

My 15 month old LOVES this book. The whole "my first" series has been a hit, but My First ABC takes the cake! He can already point out about a third of the photos when I ask him, and loves pointing at the photos to hear the words that he doesn't know yet. He gets so excited to show us the aaaypay (airplane) and ball, and brings this book to anyone who will read it with him.

I like the "My First" books by DK publishing for my daughter (age 1-2yrs). We have several of the tabbed board books. I knew that this book was smaller and not tabbed; however, it is an older edition, which I didn't notice before I ordered. The book is still cute, but some of the styles or pictures are dated-looking. Nothing is inaccurate, just something to know if you're used to the style of the bright, current-decade books.

My 2-year-old son's favorite book right now is "My First Number Board Book" by this same publisher, so I bought this one for him recently because he is interested in the alphabet, too. He loves it just as much as the number book! It is full of bright pictures, many of which are things that he already recognized so was delighted to be able to name them himself.

This book is awesome! We had to get another because his first 100 words book is starting come apart. He has always loved his books and the photos and letters in this book are more realistic so when we go outside or play around the house he points and tries to say the words. Can't quite say umbrella but he covers his head and says raaaain! lol.

I was glad to have this, though I got another map, perhaps at the hotel, which was also useful. The map I purchased gave me a chance to familiarize myself with the layout and it also had a good index. I used the northern Belgium map on the back, also, to figure out where I was going on the train and in Ghent.One problem is that with a lot of use, and also maybe with a little moisture in the air, the pop-out folds stopped working.But still, I was VERY glad I had bought this map.

About the Author

Dr Thillainathan "Path" Pathmanathan was born in Malaysia, where his interest in cars was kindled at the age of eight, by the sight of the Lamborghini Marzal concept car at a Motor Show. He boarded at Cheltenham College, obtained a degree in Physiology from the University of London, and then his medical degree from Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. He trained as an eye surgeon in London, Southampton, and Liverpool, before doing a sub-specialty fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Toronto. He has been a Consultant Eye Surgeon since 1999. His interest in Lamborghini cars has never waned, and his primary interest is in the mid-engined, wedge-shaped, spaceframe-chassised, Lamborghini supercar, with their South-North orientated Bizzarrini engines and their genuinely vertical-opening guillotine doors. He feels immensely privileged to have joint temporary custodianship of KTM X-BOW R Chassis 0642, which only presented itself after a wait of ten years. His long-standing fascination with the X-BOW lies in the similarities and close associations that this radical Road-Racer shares with its current Lamborghini stablemates: Countach Chassis 12399, a Rosso Siviglia 88 1/2 5000 QV, and Murcielago Chassis 1564, an Arancio Atlas 2005 Roadster.
