I am more than halfway through this Bible study with my sons, ages 9 and 7, and it is really fantastic. Each week is devoted to one chapter and so it is quite thorough, and even though we go over the same verses each day for a week, we are looking at it from different angles and really delving into the 5 Ws and an H! I also appreciate that it doesn't take too long (20 minutes or so) and that each book is themed to keep it interesting to the kids (looks at this book from a movie-maker's perspective). This is my 5th year homeschooling and I've tried out many Bible studies. I have already purchased Kay's "Teach me to Pray" from this series for when we finish this book, and I will continue until I've used them all up, and then I will, in all likelihood, buy them again to use with my 3 and 2 year olds when they are older. Can't recommend it enough.

We used this study as a boys' Bible study over the summer. It was a perfect format for my 6th grade boys' group. I am confident that they learned not only some wonderful truths from the book of John, but also Bible study skills that I pray they will take with them throughout their Christian walks. Thank you for this series! It remains as relevant in 2017 as it was when it was published 18 years ago.

Love this series of workbooks for kids! Teaching my Grandkids about the Bible . The workbooks are very understandable and have questions and things to do to help the kids understand what they are studying. We studied the Books on Revelations and they absolutely loved studying Revelations.

My husband and son (age 9) participate in a Father/Son bible study. This book was a great tool for creating one-on-one time at home for the two men in my life, as well as facilitating great conversation in their group study. Highly recommend. Boys ages in this study range from 8 to 11.

I may have jumped the gun on buying this. It was a bit beyond what my daughter was ready for. I think for our family just being in God's word and talking about it as a family is enough for now. This gets pretty deep with all the questions and such.

Really dry reading experience, and the videos are absolutely TERRIBLE and long. Also, not really sure why the book had to be so tiny. It made the book hard to keep open and read with tired eyes.

I used this for a retreat. Heath's explanations and commentary are easy to grasp.

I got this book for my kids because my dad got it for me when I was younger and I remembered it as a cute book about being unique and not copying others. Technically it is a book about that, but itâ€™s not as well written as my memory thought it was. The main premise is that Stephanie wants a unique hairstyle, gets teased for said hairstyle, and then everyone copies her hairstyle. I know itâ€™s a kids book, but the pacing of the sequence of events seemed rushed. Also Stephanie is a bit more of a brat than I thought she was as a kid. Overall I think kids will enjoy reading it, but there are better books out there with a similar message.

My daughter goes to a school where girls are not allowed to wear pants but boys can. We raised the issue with the school board and the matter will be taken under advisement, so hopefully the policy gets changed for next school year. In the meantime, we were told by the principal that nobody would be punished for wearing pants to school when it is cold, so my daughter has elected to wear pants instead of her jumper some days this winter. Well one day a boy in her class teased her that she was in fact a boy because she dressed like one at school. She said she told him that girls wear pants too and to just look at their teacher (who is female and, ironically, wears pants almost daily). When she told me about it, I asked her if his comment made her feel like not wearing pants and just wearing the jumper to school and she replied, "No! Not when it's cold. I like wearing pants." We had a discussion about how important it is to be yourself even if others make fun of you for it. After that discussion, I came to amazon looking for books that illustrated the lesson about nonconformity. Stephanie's Ponytail is a lighthearted and fun book that does just that. Stephanie asks her mom to style her ponytail in various ways. Each time everybody at school teases her about her new ponytail, but when Stephanie continues to wear it that way and feel confident, they start to copy her and change their hairdos to be like her. Stephanie gets the last laugh at the end of the book, and my daughter laughed right along with her. This is a good book if you are looking for books to help build your child's confidence and self esteem.

Great funny book! Don't let the cover scare you. While it may look like Stephanie's mom has had too much coffee, the father is scared to get involved and Stephanie is being yanked by her ponytail, its not at all about that. Just look at the baby laughing - the baby gets it.Stephanie's mom is super. Always supporting her daughter, listening to her desires and accomplishing the different hairdos Stephanie wants to wear. The kids in Stephanie's class, including the teacher, continue to copy Stephanie's hairdo until one day, she teaches them a lesson.Fun book to read to kids. Don't miss the half the fun. Stop and listen to the comments coming from the kids you are reading to. Don't miss out by giving the book to a child to read alone. Its so much more fun to read and listen to the comments. I learned so much about the kids in my daughters class and the teacher by reading Stephanie's Ponytail out loud.

Munsch gives empowerment to children and entertains them with sooooo many of his books. Stephanie convinces her mother to give her different types of ponytails--even if it's not the norm....in the end Stephanie pulls a fast-one on her schoolmates b/c they were copying her. Very funny and entertaining for 2 years to 7 years. Unsure if boys would enjoy the book as much as girls who can relate to those pony tails but the book does involve boys within the story...

Ok, this and Paperbag Princess are my granddaughter's two new favorite books. You end up buying dozens of books, and I still can't figure out why the kids grab these two books (of the 8 billion on their shelves) when it is story time. All I know is that they love them both, always ask for these, so the critics have spoken!

I've been reading Robert Munsch books for 20 years. I have read them to neices, nephews, kids I've mentored, neighbor kids, kids at church, airports, & doctors offices and any place you find a kid. Kids love them as they have a great story, good rhythm and they are funny. "Stephanie's Ponytail" is about a young girl who has a very distinct idea of how she wants her mother to fix her hair. And she is very put off by how her peers want to imitate her "do." This is one of my favorite Robert Munsch books. "Annikins" are approx 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" so they fit in a birthday card or in your purse. You can also buy the books in 8" x 8" glossey cardboard cover or in hardback. In my opinion, any Robert Munsch books are the best. He has around 30+ titles.

You NEED this book in your home library! It's a classic. As a 20 year veteran teacher, I have read this story over and over and over again at school. My own children went through more than a few copies at home it is such a well loved book. The surprise ending is the best ever and gives us all the much needed reminder to think for ourselves. Get this book. You won't be sorry.

This is a book that I would read to my daughter when she was five or six, I have grandchildren now, and this book teaches a very important lesson, besides being funny and happy. Explains one way of thinking for yourself. Love this book!

Fascinated with Susan Sontag.

Not as substantive as volume two, which I had previously read (her young age a factor, albeit the qualities of her youthful interests and accomishments impresses). At 68, I've long been a student of SS; it adds to my understanding. I saw her in a NYC theatre lobby of Irene Fornes's play (Letters/Cuba), but not a "celebrity worshipper," I stayed away. I now wish I had simply said, thank you.Nicholas Aharon Boggioni.

I really loved Sontagâ€™s diary. It reveals her as a passionate intellectual, in pursuit of full living, one could even say of having it all â€“ loving both sexes, reading all that she can get her hands on, coping with her wish to write, become an author herself. She also revealed herself as an uncertain woman, a woman who doubts her choices and has a hard time making decisions. But I really had trouble with the editorâ€™s interventions. Having read a lot of published womenâ€™s diaries, I have never seen an editorâ€™s commentary intervene with the authorâ€™s text. The editorâ€™s comments should have been written in endnotes or footnotes, and should not have made a mess of the original text. I do not think the editor had bad intentions, but the result is really troubling, and it sometimes even made me mad! Nonetheless, I am looking forward to reading the second part of the journal, As Consciousness Is Harnessed to Flesh.

direct insight into the blossoming of an intellectual. and an outsider, from girlhood. riveting, expansive, helplessly sad. particularly poignant when writing about sexuality and love.

Perfect--came with another book and great book seller.

Sontag's son has struck again, apparently intent on making his mark by violating her privacy. It is deplorable that such a private woman should be exposed to public scrutiny through her youthful journals, which I have serious doubt she ever intended her readers to see. David Reiff will never be the writer or thinker that his mother was, and I suppose this is his way of piggybacking on her fame, but shame is rather more what he deserves.
